Tassimo is a popular single-serve beverage system that uses proprietary pods known as T-Discs. This specific product is a collaboration with Costa Coffee, a legendary British coffeehouse chain. The Tassimo system was originally developed by Kraft Foods and launched in France in 2004. Unlike other pod systems, Tassimo machines read a barcode on each disc to adjust brewing parameters like water volume, temperature, and time automatically.

The Costa Coffee brand, originally founded in London in 1971 by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa, has become a global staple. In 2019, The Coca-Cola Company completed the acquisition of Costa Limited, making it the ultimate owner of the brand. Meanwhile, the Tassimo brand and its manufacturing are managed by JDE Peet's, a leading pure-play coffee and tea company headquartered in the Netherlands.

Manufacturing for Tassimo T-Discs primarily occurs in Germany, specifically at the Elmshorn production facility. The pods are distributed globally to cater to the domestic coffee market, combining the engineering of JDE Peet's beverage systems with the premium coffee blends of the Costa brand.
