Hosta is a prominent German confectionery brand with a rich history dating back to its founding by Hermann Osterried in 1949. The name "Hosta" is derived from the first letters of the founder's name and the company's location: Hermann Osterried STAnzach (originally in Austria before relocating to Germany). The company gained widespread recognition for its innovative chocolate and crispy products, most notably the iconic 'Nippon' puffed rice chocolate squares.

Today, Hosta remains a family-owned enterprise based in Fichtenberg, Germany. While the brand has established a strong presence in European markets, its manufacturing remains focused on high-quality production standards within Germany. The brand has expanded its portfolio over decades through acquisitions, notably incorporating brands like Mr. Tom (peanuts) and Romy (coconut chocolate) under the Hosta International umbrella, maintaining its independence from global food conglomerates.
