Superdrug products

Superdrug was established in 1964 by brothers Ronald and Peter Goldstein in London, originally under the name Leading Supermarkets Limited before adopting its current name later that year. The first store opened in Putney in 1966. Over the decades, it grew into Britain's second-largest health and beauty retailer. After being owned by Kingfisher plc (formerly Woolworth Holdings) in the late 1980s and 1990s, the company was acquired by the Kruidvat Group in 2001.

In 2002, the A.S. Watson Group, a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based multinational conglomerate CK Hutchison Holdings (formerly Hutchison Whampoa), acquired the Kruidvat Group, thereby becoming the ultimate owner of Superdrug. As of 2026, Superdrug remains a key asset of A.S. Watson, which also manages other major UK brands like Savers and The Perfume Shop. While the company is headquartered in Croydon, England, its own-brand products are manufactured in multiple countries globally, adhering to cruelty-free and vegan standards, with a significant supply chain presence across Europe and Asia.
