A2A Protocol (Agent-to-Agent)

A2A (Agent-to-Agent) is a technical specification designed to facilitate seamless communication between autonomous AI agents across different ecosystems. It establishes a standardized protocol using JSON-RPC 2.0, allowing agents to exchange messages, stream data, and manage asynchronous tasks through a unified set of definitions. The framework is built to support various transport methods, including HTTP and gRPC, ensuring interoperability regardless of the underlying infrastructure.

The project is characterized by its open-source nature, hosted and developed collaboratively within the global developer community. By providing a structured schema for agent capabilities, identity manifestation (AgentCards), and security requirements, A2A aims to solve the fragmentation in AI agent interactions.
