Flor de Caña is a world-renowned premium rum brand with a history dating back to 1890. It was founded by Francisco Alfredo Pellas, an Italian entrepreneur from Genoa who immigrated to Nicaragua. The brand is deeply rooted in the volcanic terroir of Nicaragua, specifically at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano in Chichigalpa, which provides unique soil and water minerals essential for its distinct flavor profile.

The production is vertically integrated, meaning the company manages everything from sugarcane harvesting and distillation to aging and bottling. The brand is famously 'slow-aged' in bourbon barrels without artificial additives and has received numerous environmental certifications, including being the world’s first rum to be both Fair Trade and Carbon Neutral.

Today, Flor de Caña continues to be a family-owned legacy, currently led by the fifth generation of the Pellas family. It is produced by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, S.A. (CLNSA), a cornerstone of the Pellas Group, which is one of the largest and most influential business conglomerates in Central America.
