Yukong, short for Yu-ryo Gong-sa (Korea Oil Corporation), traces its origins back to 1962 as South Korea's first oil refinery. Over the decades, the brand became synonymous with the nation's energy development and industrial growth. In the late 20th century, the brand underwent a significant transformation after being acquired by the Sunkyong Group, eventually rebranding to SK Energy as part of the broader SK Group identity in 1997.

Today, the manufacturing of SK products occurs primarily at the Ulsan Complex in South Korea, one of the world's largest integrated refinery and petrochemical plants. The brand is a core pillar of SK Innovation, the holding company for the group's energy and chemical businesses. Under the stewardship of the SK Group, the brand has evolved from a local oil refiner into a global energy conglomerate focusing on petroleum, lubricants, and future-oriented green energy solutions.
