COMPAS is an open-source, Python-based framework designed specifically for computational research and collaboration in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC). It was originally developed at ETH Zurich within the Block Research Group to provide a standardized platform for complex geometric modeling and fabrication processes.
Since its inception, the framework has expanded into a community-driven ecosystem. It is primarily developed and maintained in Switzerland, but it benefits from global contributions due to its open-source nature. The project is currently governed by the COMPAS Association, ensuring that it remains an independent and cross-disciplinary tool for the global AEC research community.
