Magic: The Gathering, originally created by Richard Garfield, is the first and most widely played trading card game in the world. Since its launch in 1993, it has grown into a massive global phenomenon with millions of players and a complex secondary market for collectibles.

The brand was originally published by Wizards of the Coast, a company based in Washington state, USA. In 1999, Wizards of the Coast was acquired by the American multinational toy and board game giant Hasbro, Inc. Today, Magic: The Gathering remains one of Hasbro’s most profitable and flagship intellectual properties, forming a core part of its 'Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming' segment.

Manufacturing of the physical cards primarily takes place in the United States, but high-quality printing facilities in Japan and Belgium are also frequently utilized for specific set releases or regional versions to ensure global distribution and quality standards.
