Mailfence is a private and secure email service developed by ContactOffice Group, which has been providing cloud-based collaboration software since the late 1990s. Launched in 2013, the service was created as a response to the growing concerns over online surveillance and data privacy. It is headquartered and hosted in Belgium, benefiting from the country's strict privacy laws which are outside of the immediate oversight of the "Fourteen Eyes" intelligence alliance.
