Shaw Floors is a leading American brand in the residential and commercial flooring industry. Founded in 1946 as the Star Dye Company, it originally specialized in tufted rugs before evolving into one of the world's largest carpet manufacturers. The brand is deeply rooted in Dalton, Georgia, often referred to as the 'Carpet Capital of the World,' where most of its primary manufacturing facilities remain today.
Over the decades, Shaw Floors expanded its product line to include hardwood, laminate, tile, and stone, positioning itself as a comprehensive flooring solutions provider. In 2001, the company achieved a major milestone when it was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway, the multinational conglomerate led by Warren Buffett. This acquisition provided Shaw with immense financial stability and resources to continue its innovation, particularly in sustainable manufacturing.
Today, Shaw Floors is a subsidiary of Shaw Industries Group, Inc., and remains headquartered in the United States. While much of its production is handled domestically in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina to ensure quality control and fast distribution, the brand also sources and manufactures certain specialty products globally to meet international market demands.
