The MG 4 EV, also known as the MG Mulan in its domestic market, is a battery-electric compact hatchback developed by the Chinese automotive giant SAIC Motor. While the MG brand's heritage is deeply rooted in British motoring history, the modern iteration of the brand is entirely engineered and manufactured under Chinese ownership. The MG 4 is built on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), representing a strategic shift toward global electric vehicle markets.
Production of the MG 4 is primarily centered in China at SAIC's advanced manufacturing facilities, specifically the Ningde plant. As part of SAIC's expansion, the vehicle is exported to international markets where it has gained popularity for its competitive range and performance. The brand's transition from an iconic British sports car manufacturer to a high-volume electric vehicle producer was completed following the acquisition of MG Rover assets by Nanjing Automobile, which was subsequently merged into SAIC Motor.
