Founded in 1945 by the Fumagalli family in Monza, Italy, it gained fame for producing the first all-Italian washing machine. Over the decades, Candy expanded its portfolio to include a wide range of large appliances like refrigerators, ovens, and dishwashers.

In 2019, the brand underwent a significant transition when it was acquired by the Haier Group, a global leader in home appliances based in Qingdao, China. This acquisition integrated Candy into Haier's massive global network, aiming to combine Italian design and innovation with Haier's manufacturing prowess and smart technology. Today, while the design and marketing often retain their European roots, much of the manufacturing has been consolidated within Haier's global production facilities, primarily in China and Turkey, though some specialized production remains in Europe.
