Method is a leading brand in the sustainable cleaning sector, founded in 2000 with a mission to combine design-led aesthetics with eco-friendly ingredients. The brand's manufacturing hub, known as the 'South Side Soapbox,' is located in Chicago, Illinois. This facility is a pioneer in green manufacturing, featuring a massive rooftop greenhouse and wind turbines to power production. While the majority of North American products are made there, global distribution is supported by regional manufacturing partners to reduce the carbon footprint associated with shipping.

In 2012, Method joined forces with the Belgian eco-powerhouse Ecover. However, the largest shift in ownership occurred in 2017 when the combined company was acquired by S.C. Johnson & Son. This acquisition integrated Method into the portfolio of one of the world's largest household cleaning companies, allowing for expanded retail reach while maintaining Method’s commitment to non-toxic and biodegradable ingredients.
