The image features an external hard drive by Iomega, a pioneer in the data storage industry. Iomega was originally founded in 1980 in Utah, USA, and became a household name in the 1990s with the massive success of the Zip drive and Jaz drive. These products revolutionized portable data storage before the ubiquity of high-capacity USB drives.

Over the years, the brand transitioned into larger-capacity external desktop and portable hard drives, as well as Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. In 2008, Iomega was acquired by the consumer electronics giant EMC Corporation. Later, in 2013, EMC entered into a joint venture with Lenovo, resulting in the rebranding of Iomega products to LenovoEMC for enterprise solutions, while the traditional Iomega brand was largely phased out or absorbed into Lenovo’s consumer line.

Historically, while the brand’s engineering and original design work took place in the United States, the majority of manufacturing for consumer products was moved to large-scale electronics facilities in China and other parts of Southeast Asia to maintain competitive pricing in the global market.
