Twist (Marabou/Freia)

Twist is an iconic Nordic assortment of individually wrapped chocolates and caramels. It was first launched by the Norwegian confectionery brand Freia in 1954 and later introduced to the Swedish market under the Marabou brand. The product gained immense popularity for its variety and the 'surprise' element of its rotating selection of flavors.

While Freia and Marabou were originally independent companies in Norway and Sweden respectively, the brands were consolidated under common ownership in the late 20th century. Today, Twist remains a staple of Scandinavian culture, produced largely at the Freia factory in Rodeløkka, Oslo, ensuring that the traditional quality of the diverse chocolate pieces is maintained.

The brand is currently part of the global snacking giant Mondelez International. Through various mergers and acquisitions involving Kraft Foods, Twist has transitioned from a local Nordic favorite to being part of one of the world's largest food portfolios, though its distribution remains focused primarily on the Nordic markets.
