In October 2023, the brand underwent a significant ownership change. Previously owned by Hall and Woodhouse—a long-standing independent family brewery in Dorset—Rio was acquired by Britvic plc. This move integrated Rio into Britvic's extensive portfolio of household beverage brands. Today, Rio continues to be produced primarily in the United Kingdom, benefiting from Britvic's massive distribution network and manufacturing capabilities while maintaining its original recipe heritage.
