Rama is a well-established brand of margarine and spreads with roots dating back to 1924 in Germany. Originally launched as 'Rahma', it was later renamed to Rama and became a household staple across Europe. The brand's history is deeply intertwined with the development of modern margarine production, shifting from a primarily dairy-focused identity to one that embraces plant-based fats.

Historically, Rama was a cornerstone brand for Unilever for many decades. However, in 2018, as part of a strategic divestment of its spreads division, Unilever sold the brand to KKR, which formed 'Upfield'. Today, Upfield is the world's leading producer of plant-based spreads. While manufacturing occurs in multiple locations across Europe to serve local markets, a significant portion of the production for the German market remains centered in Germany, as indicated by the 'DE RP 247 EG' health mark visible on the packaging.
