Lotus is a household tissue and hygiene brand with a long-standing history in the European market, particularly in France, Belgium, and the Nordic regions. The EcoSoft variant is distinguished by its use of alternative fibers, such as wheat straw, alongside traditional wood pulp to reduce its environmental footprint. This reflects a shift toward more sustainable manufacturing processes in the consumer paper goods sector.
The brand was originally pioneered by the French company Georgia-Pacific France (formerly part of the Béghin-Say group). Over the decades, ownership shifted as the hygiene industry underwent significant consolidation. In 2012, the Swedish global hygiene and health company Essity (then part of SCA) acquired the European tissue operations of Georgia-Pacific, bringing Lotus under its umbrella. Today, Essity continues to own and manage Lotus, positioning it as a premium brand committed to quality and ecological responsibility.
