Pantene is one of the most recognized hair care brands globally, rooted in scientific discovery. The brand's history began in 1945 in Switzerland, inspired by the discovery of Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) and its beneficial effects on hair fiber. Originally developed by the Swiss pharmaceutical company Hoffmann-La Roche, the brand was later acquired by Richardson-Vicks.
In 1985, the American multinational Procter & Gamble (P&G) acquired Richardson-Vicks, integrating Pantene into its vast beauty and personal care portfolio. Since then, Pantene has expanded its reach to every continent, becoming a market leader in many countries. For the Brazilian market, products are typically manufactured in local facilities, such as the P&G plant in Louveira, São Paulo, though the brand maintains a global supply chain with manufacturing centers in North America, Europe, and Asia to serve various regional demands.
