CUPRA cars

CUPRA was originally established in 1985 as SEAT Sport, the high-performance motorsport division of the Spanish automaker SEAT. In 2018, it was officially launched as a standalone premium performance brand, transitioning from a trim level to a distinct identity focused on sportiness, electrification, and sophisticated design.

The majority of CUPRA vehicles, including the flagship Formentor and the Leon, are manufactured at the Martorell plant in Barcelona, Spain. However, as part of the broader Volkswagen Group production network, some models are produced in other European facilities, such as the CUPRA Born in Zwickau, Germany, and the Tavascan in China. Ownership remains under the SEAT S.A. umbrella, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German multinational automotive manufacturer Volkswagen AG.
