JBL is a legendary American audio brand founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing. The brand played a pivotal role in the development of cinema sound and high-fidelity home audio. Over its history, it became a standard in both professional studio monitors and large-scale concert sound systems, eventually expanding into a dominant force in the consumer electronics market with portable Bluetooth speakers and headphones.
Today, JBL is part of the Harman International Industries group. In a major industry shift in 2017, Harman was acquired by the South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics. While the brand's heritage is firmly rooted in the United States, its manufacturing is now global, with production facilities located in China, Mexico, and other regions to serve international markets. The brand continues to be managed as a premium audio subsidiary under Samsung's vast technology umbrella.
