La Española is a storied Spanish brand with deep roots in Andalusia, a region renowned as the world's most significant olive oil producer. The brand was established in 1840, making it one of the oldest and most traditional olive oil names in Spain. It is named after the Spanish colony 'La Española' (Hispaniola), where Hernando Colón, son of Christopher Columbus, began exporting olive oil produced in the Seville countryside.

Today, the brand is owned and operated by Acesur (Aceites del Sur), a family-owned multinational corporation that oversees the entire production cycle from grove to bottle. Because it is produced by a company with such deep vertical integration, the manufacturing is strictly controlled within Spain, primarily at their facilities in Seville and Jaén. The Chilli Flavoured variant is a blend of their signature olive oils infused with natural chili extract to create a spicy culinary staple.

Acesur remains a dominant force in the global oil market, exporting to over 100 countries and maintaining a reputation for authentic Mediterranean quality while continuing to be headquartered in its original founding region of Spain.
