Häagen-Dazs is a premium ice cream brand founded in 1960 by Reuben and Rose Mattus in the Bronx, New York. Despite its Scandinavian-sounding name, which was created to convey an aura of old-world craftsmanship, the brand is purely American in origin.

Manufacturing for Häagen-Dazs is globally distributed. In North America, the brand is licensed to Froneri, a joint venture between Nestlé and R&R Ice Cream. In the rest of the world, including Europe and Asia (excluding Japan), it is owned and manufactured by General Mills. Major production facilities are located in Tilloy-lès-Mofflaines, France (serving Europe and international markets), as well as plants in the United States and China.
