Wenger is a historic brand with deep Swiss roots, originally established in 1893 in Courtételle, Switzerland. While famously known as one of the two original manufacturers of the Swiss Army Knife, the brand expanded into travel gear, watches, and professional backpacks. The Synergy series is a flagship line known for its durability and technical features like the Triple Protected laptop compartment and shock-absorbing straps.

In 2005, Wenger was acquired by its long-time rival, Victorinox, to ensure the brand remained in Swiss hands during a period of industrial consolidation. Today, while the brand's identity and design standards remain firmly Swiss, part of the manufacturing for the travel gear and textile-based products, such as the Wenger backpacks, is outsourced to high-quality manufacturing facilities in Asia, primarily China. This allows the brand to maintain its reputation for functionality and resilience while meeting global distribution demands.

Under the stewardship of Victorinox AG, Wenger continues to operate as a separate brand with its own distinct product personality. The ultimate ownership lies with the Victorinox Foundation, which ensures the company's long-term independence and the reinvestment of profits into sustainable business practices and charitable initiatives.
