Brand Heritage and Origins

Harry's was founded in 2013 by Jeff Raider and Andy Katz-Mayfield. The brand was born out of a desire to create a high-quality, fair-priced alternative to the dominant shaving brands that controlled the market at the time. Headquartered in New York City, Harry's quickly evolved from a direct-to-consumer digital startup into a global grooming powerhouse.

Manufacturing and Supply Chain

A defining moment for the brand occurred in 2014 when Harry's acquired Feintechnik, a historic German factory in Eisfeld that had been producing high-quality razor blades since 1920. This vertical integration allows the company to maintain strict quality control and manage the entire production process from engineering to edge honing. While the blades are primarily manufactured in Germany, various handles and shaving creams are produced in the United States and other global locations.

Ownership and Global Reach

Today, the brand operates under Harry’s Inc., which has expanded its portfolio to include other lifestyle brands like Flamingo (women's grooming) and Lume. Despite a high-profile attempted merger with Edgewell Personal Care in 2020 that was blocked by regulators, Harry’s remains an independent, privately held company backed by prominent venture capital firms. The company continues to disrupt the consumer packaged goods sector by focusing on direct consumer needs and maintaining its commitment to social causes, including mental health awareness.
