Gato Negro is one of Chile's most well-known and commercially successful wine brands, primarily recognized for its approachable and consistent quality. It was originally created by Viña San Pedro, a winery founded in 1865 in the Lontué Valley by the Correa Albano brothers. The brand itself grew to international prominence during the 1960s and 1970s and is now exported to over 80 countries worldwide.

The wine is produced and bottled in Chile, utilizing grapes primarily harvested from the Central Valley. Today, the brand is owned by the VSPT Wine Group (Viña San Pedro Tarapacá S.A.), which is one of the largest wine producers in Latin America. The group is ultimately controlled by CCU (Compañía de las Cervecerías Unidas), a major Chilean beverage conglomerate with significant operations across South America and partnerships with global beverage giants.
