Albo is one of Spain's most prestigious and historic canning companies. Founded in 1869 by Carlos Albo Kayoso in Santoña, Cantabria, the brand has built a long-standing reputation for high-quality seafood preservation. Their sardinillas (small sardines) are typically caught in the Atlantic and processed using traditional methods that have been refined for over 150 years.
While the brand maintains its Spanish identity and manufacturing centers in Spain (specifically in Vigo and Celeiro), its ownership transitioned to a global scale in 2016. The brand and the company, Hijos de Carlos Albo, were acquired by the Chinese group Shanghai Kaichuang Ocean Resources. This acquisition was part of a larger strategy by the Chinese group to expand its presence in the premium European food market. Despite the international ownership, Albo continues to operate as a Spanish entity with localized production to ensure the quality and heritage of the Galician canning tradition.
