La Fageda is a unique social and business project born in the heart of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park in Catalonia, Spain. Founded in 1982 by Cristóbal Colón, the company was established as a non-profit cooperative with a primary social mission: to provide meaningful employment and social integration for people with intellectual disabilities or mental health challenges in the local region.
All production is centralized at their Santa Pau estate, where they transform fresh milk from their own dairy farms into high-quality yogurts, desserts, and jams. The brand has achieved remarkable commercial success, becoming a leading yogurt brand in Catalonia while maintaining its non-profit status. Unlike most commercial giants, La Fageda remains independent of multinational food conglomerates, operating under a group of four non-profit entities that prioritize social impact over financial dividends.
