Nescafé Original is one of the world's most recognized coffee brands, specifically known for its soluble instant coffee granules. The brand was first introduced by Nestlé in Switzerland on April 1, 1938, after being developed by Max Morgenthaler and his team to help the Brazilian government manage a massive coffee surplus. Since its inception, Nescafé has become a global household name, characterized by its distinctive red mug and 'full & bold' flavour profile.

For the UK and Republic of Ireland markets, much of the production takes place at the Nestlé factory in Tutbury, Derbyshire, which underwent significant investment to become a leading global coffee manufacturing hub. Ownership remains with Nestlé S.A., the world's largest food and beverage company, which oversees the brand's sustainability initiatives, such as the Nescafé Plan, aimed at ensuring ethical coffee sourcing and reducing environmental impacts across its global supply chain.
