Chopard, a name synonymous with high-end luxury, was founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in Sonvilier, Switzerland. The brand originally gained fame for its precise pocket watches and chronometers, eventually moving its operations to Geneva. The Mille Miglia collection shown here is a celebrated line of sport watches inspired by the historic Italian open-road endurance race of the same name, reflecting a long-standing partnership between the watchmaker and the automotive event.
All Chopard watches are manufactured in Switzerland, adhering to the strict 'Swiss Made' standards that require the majority of production and assembly to occur within Swiss borders. The brand operates its own manufacture in Fleurier and a large headquarters in Geneva to maintain technical excellence.
Unlike many other historical luxury brands that have been acquired by large conglomerates, Chopard remains an independent, family-owned company. It was acquired in 1963 by the Scheufele family of Germany, who have since managed and expanded the brand globally. Today, the company continues to be headquartered in Switzerland and is renowned for its commitment to ethical gold sourcing and high-complication horology.
