Lanvin is the oldest French luxury fashion house still in operation, established in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin. Originally starting as a millinery boutique on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, the brand quickly expanded into childrenswear and eventually high-end couture. Over the decades, it became a symbol of Parisian elegance, known for its intricate beadwork, delicate colors, and the iconic 'Robes de Style'.

While the brand maintains its French heritage and creative direction in Paris, the majority of its manufacturing today takes place in Italy and France to preserve high-quality craftsmanship standards. In recent years, ownership has shifted from European entities to global luxury groups. Since 2018, the brand has been under the control of the Lanvin Group (formerly Fosun Fashion Group), which has focused on modernizing the house's image while respecting its historical legacy.

The current ownership structure reflects the globalization of luxury, with the brand headquartered in France but owned by a multi-national group based in China. This transition has allowed Lanvin to expand its retail footprint significantly in Asian markets and North America, positioning it as a competitor in the digital-era luxury landscape.
