Brand Origin and History

Fossil was founded in 1984 in Richardson, Texas, by Tom Kartsotis. Originally established as 'Overseas Products International,' the brand played a pivotal role in transforming watches from functional timekeepers into fashionable accessories. Inspired by vintage Americana and 1950s graphics, Fossil became famous for packaging its watches in its signature decorative tin boxes.

Manufacturing and Production

While Fossil is an American brand, the vast majority of its manufacturing takes place in Asia, specifically in China and Thailand, to maintain competitive pricing. However, for its high-end Fossil Swiss collection and subsidiary luxury brands, production occurs in Switzerland. The company also operates design studios in Dallas, Texas, and Biel, Switzerland.
