Blue Band is a legendary household name in the margarine and buttery spreads category, particularly well-known in the Netherlands and the UK. Originally created by the Van den Bergh company (which later merged into Unilever), the brand has spent decades as a staple for family breakfasts and baking.
Starting in 2018, the brand underwent a major ownership shift when Unilever sold its global spreads division to KKR, lead to the formation of Upfield. Recently, the company rebranded as Flora Food Group. The Blue Band Goede Start variant is specifically formulated as a 'halvarine'—a low-fat spread—enriched with essential vitamins and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to support child development. While the brand has global reach, this specific variant is heavily focused on the Dutch market and is manufactured in specialized facilities across Europe, with a major production hub in the Netherlands.
