Arnott's Savoy is a quintessential Australian snack cracker known for its distinctive salty taste and crisp texture. Originally launched by the Brockhoff Biscuit Co. in Victoria during the mid-20th century, Savoy crackers became a direct competitor to the Jatz cracker found in other states. Following the merger of Brockhoff with William Arnott's in the 1960s, the brand became part of the iconic Arnott's portfolio. Even today, Victorians and Tasmanians predominantly refer to them as Savoy, while the rest of the country consumes Jatz, despite the recipes being very similar.
Historically an Australian family-owned enterprise, Arnott's underwent significant ownership changes, being sold to the American food giant Campbell Soup Company in 1997. In 2019, the brand was acquired by KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P.), a global investment firm based in the United States. Despite these shifts in high-level corporate ownership, Savoy crackers continue to be manufactured primarily within Australia at Arnott's production facilities in Huntingwood (NSW), Brisbane (QLD), or Adelaide (SA), maintaining their status as an Australian-made pantry staple.
