Originally founded in Germany by Ludwig Müller in Aretsried in 1896, the brand has since become a household name across Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom where it established a major production presence in Market Drayton in 1992.

The Bliss sub-brand is specifically tailored for the indulgence market, featuring a unique aerated texture. While the parent group is headquartered in Luxembourg and has deep German roots, the products sold under this branding in the UK are manufactured locally using British milk. The company remains a private family enterprise, owned by the Unternehmersgruppe Theo Müller.
