Cadent Gas

Cadent Gas is the largest natural gas distribution network in the United Kingdom, serving approximately 11 million homes and businesses. The brand was established in 2017 following the separation and sale of National Grid’s gas distribution arm. It operates four of the UK's eight regional gas distribution networks: West Midlands, North West, East of England, and North London.

Today, the company is owned by a powerful international consortium known as Quadgas Investments Bidco Limited. This ownership structure represents a diverse group of global institutional investors, including infrastructure funds and pension funds from Australia, China, and the Middle East, alongside British interests. The company plays a critical role in the UK's energy infrastructure and is increasingly focused on the transition to net-zero through hydrogen exploration and sustainable heating solutions.
