Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, commonly known as Milwaukee Tool, is a premier manufacturer of heavy-duty power tools, accessories, and hand tools intended for professional users worldwide. Founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the brand built its reputation on durability and innovation, specifically with the invention of the Hole-Shooter, the first lightweight, portable, one-handed 1/4-inch capacity drill.
Over the decades, the company has transitioned from a domestic American manufacturer to a global powerhouse. While it maintains a significant and growing manufacturing footprint in the United States—specifically in Wisconsin and Mississippi—a large portion of its global supply chain is centered in Asia and South America to support international demand. This multi-country manufacturing strategy allows them to maintain high-volume production for their extensive M12, M18, and MX Fuel cordless systems.
Ownership of the brand has changed several times since its inception in 1924. It was acquired by the Hong Kong-based conglomerate Techtronic Industries (TTI) in 2005. Under TTI's leadership, Milwaukee has undergone a massive transformation, pivoting heavily into lithium-ion technology and digital tool management. Today, it stands as the flagship professional brand within the TTI portfolio, managed alongside other notable tool brands like Ryobi and AEG.
