Sidul is the leading sugar brand in Portugal, known for its long history in the refining industry. The brand was established through the Sociedade Industrial do Ultramar (SIDUL), which began operations in Lisbon in the early 20th century. Today, Sidul operates as part of the Sidul Açúcares company, which maintains a significant refinery in Santa Iria de Azóia.

Since 2010, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of American Sugar Refining, Inc. (ASR Group), a global leader in the sugar industry. The manufacturing for the Portuguese market is primarily carried out locally in Portugal, utilizing raw cane sugar sourced from sustainable origins, as indicated by the packaging labels. This integration allows the brand to combine traditional Portuguese industrial heritage with the global supply chain and sustainability standards of a multinational corporation.
