Originally founded in the United Kingdom by the Lever Brothers, it became the foundation for the multinational giant Unilever. Sunlight revolutionized the consumer hygiene market by introducing the first packaged, branded laundry soap.

While Unilever maintains the brand globally, the Australian and New Zealand rights and manufacturing operations were sold to Pental Limited (formerly known as Symex). Pental produces the Sunlight range at its primary manufacturing facility in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia. The brand remains a household name, recognized for its lemon-scented dishwashing liquid which emphasizes biodegradable surfactants and grease-cutting capabilities.
