Grant's Scotch Whisky is one of the world's most renowned and historically significant spirits brands. The brand was established by William Grant in 1887, who built the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, by hand with the help of his nine children. Since its inception, the brand has remained fiercely independent and is internationally recognized for its signature triangular bottle design, introduced in 1957 to showcase the quality and color of the whisky while providing a unique shelf presence.
Production takes place primarily at the Girvan distillery in Ayrshire, Scotland, which was established in 1963. The whisky is famous for its 'Triple Wood' process, involving maturation in three different types of casks—Virgin Oak, American Oak, and Refill Bourbon—to achieve a smooth and complex flavor profile. This dedication to traditional distilling methods combined with modern maturation techniques has kept Grant's at the forefront of the blended Scotch market.
Today, Grant's is owned and operated by William Grant & Sons, a fifth-generation family-owned distiller. Unlike many of its competitors who have been acquired by large multinational conglomerates, the company has maintained its independence for over 130 years. This stewardship ensures that the brand remains deeply rooted in its Scottish heritage, with headquarters located in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, and ownership held by the direct descendants of the founder.
