The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) is a payment-integration initiative of the European Union for simplification of bank transfers denominated in euro. Established to create a borderless system for electronic payments, it allows consumers and businesses to make cashless euro payments to anyone located anywhere in the area using a single bank account and a single set of payment instruments.

Technically, SEPA is not a physical product manufactured in one location; rather, it is a regulatory framework and technical standard implemented across the European Economic Area. The project was launched by the European Payments Council (EPC) representing the European banking sector, in close cooperation with the European Commission and the European Central Bank. This system ensures that cross-border payments are as easy, efficient, and secure as domestic payments within a single country.
