Termitomyces is a genus of edible mushrooms that share a symbiotic relationship with termites. Unlike commercially farmed mushrooms, these are typically wild-harvested. They are highly sought after in various parts of Africa and Asia for their rich, umami flavour and meaty texture. Because they rely on termite mounds for their growth environment, they cannot be mass-produced in a traditional factory setting.
Since these are raw, wild-harvested agricultural products, they do not have a single manufacturer or a corporate brand identity. They are usually collected by local foragers and sold in local markets. The 'brand' is typically the species itself, such as the Termitomyces titanicus or Termitomyces eurhizus, and they are valued as a seasonal delicacy in their native regions.
