Uniroyal is a historic tyre brand originally founded as the United States Rubber Company in 1892. Over decades, it became a major player in the global rubber industry, eventually merging into Uniroyal Goodrich.
The brand has a unique ownership structure that is split geographically. Since 1979, the European division of Uniroyal has been owned by Continental AG, which marketed them as the 'RainTyre' due to their superior performance in wet conditions. In contrast, the North American division of Uniroyal was acquired by Michelin in 1990.
Manufacturing takes place across a global network of facilities depending on the region of sale, primarily located in European plants for Continental's market and North American or Latin American plants for Michelin's distribution.
