Barnängen is a Swedish heritage brand originally founded in 1868 by Johan Wilhelm Holmström in Stockholm. Initially famous for its iconic soap, the brand became a purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden in 1876. Its identity is deeply rooted in the Swedish philosophy of 'Lagom'—the idea of 'just the right amount'—focused on balance and natural well-being.
While the brand's heart and heritage remain Swedish, it was acquired by the German consumer goods giant Henkel in 1992. Today, the production of Barnängen products, including the Nutritive Shower Cream, primarily takes place in Henkel's European manufacturing facilities, notably in Germany, to serve the international market. The global distribution is handled by Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, which maintains the brand's positioning as a premium Nordic skincare line.
