Saimaza is one of Spain's most iconic coffee brands, with a history dating back to 1908. It was founded by Joaquín Sainz de la Maza in Seville, originally starting as a small family grocery store that specialized in roasting coffee beans. Over the decades, it grew to become a household name across Spain, known for its distinctive 'Mezcla' (a blend of natural and torrefacto roasted beans) which caters to traditional Spanish tastes.

Today, the brand is part of the global coffee landscape through its ownership by JDE Peet's. While the brand remains deeply rooted in Spanish coffee culture, its production and distribution are managed via the infrastructure of its parent company. Manufacturing historically centered in Seville, though contemporary production utilizes multiple roasting facilities across Europe to supply the market. The brand continues to focus on the Spanish retail sector, offering ground, bean, and capsule formats.

Following a series of corporate acquisitions involving General Foods, Kraft Foods, and Mondelez, the brand was eventually folded into the joint venture that became Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE). As of 2026, it operates under JDE Peet's, a dominant player in the global coffee industry headquartered in the Netherlands.
