Chiemseer is a traditional Bavarian beer brand, specifically known for its 'Helles' (light lager). While the brand originated in the Chiemgau region near Lake Chiemsee, production was eventually moved to Rosenheim following its acquisition. The beer is brewed according to the 'Bayerisches Reinheitsgebot' (Bavarian Purity Law) of 1516.
The brand is currently owned by the Rosenheimer Spezialitätenbrauerei, which is a subsidiary of the larger Paulaner Brewery Group. This move was part of a consolidation within the Bavarian brewing industry to expand the regional reach of the Chiemseer brand while maintaining its traditional identity and recipe.
