Patak's is a household name in the United Kingdom, synonymous with authentic Indian flavors. The brand's journey began in London in 1957 when Lakhubhai Pathak and his family started a small business selling Indian sweets and snacks from their home. Their commitment to traditional recipes quickly gained popularity among South Asian immigrants and British locals alike.
Today, Patak's is a global leader in Indian cuisine components, including pastes, sauces, and breads like the Flame Baked Plain Naans shown here. These products are primarily manufactured in the United Kingdom at specialized facilities designed to mimic traditional baking methods.
In terms of ownership, the Patak family sold the business in 2007 to Associated British Foods (ABF), a major British multinational food processing and retailing company. Under ABF's stewardship, Patak's operates as part of their grocery division, continuing to provide diverse culinary options to the international market while maintaining its British-Indian heritage.
