LaDORNA is one of the most recognized dairy brands in Romania, representing a significant chapter in the country's post-communist industrial development. Founded in 1998 by the Swiss-based businessman Jean Valvis, the brand quickly established itself as a pioneer in the local market, notably introducing the first UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) milk and organic dairy products to Romanian consumers.
The brand's manufacturing remains deeply rooted in its country of origin, with primary production facilities located in the Vatra Dornei region of the Carpathian Mountains. This location is strategically chosen for its clean environmental conditions and traditional dairy farming heritage, allowing the brand to market its products as high-quality and ecologically sound.
In 2008, the brand underwent a major ownership shift when it was acquired by the Lactalis Group, a French multinational and the world's largest dairy products corporation. Today, LaDORNA operates as a key subsidiary under the Lactalis Romania umbrella, benefiting from international distribution networks and advanced processing technologies while maintaining its identity as a local Romanian leader in the milk and cheese sectors.
