Calvé is a historic food brand that traces its roots back to the late 19th century in the Netherlands. It was born from the merger of the Nederlandsche Oliefabriek (NOF) founded by Jan Bastiaan Wilhelm Calvé and the French company Emmanuel Delaunay. These industrial pioneers combined specialized oil refining techniques with culinary expertise, creating a brand that would become a household name across Europe, particularly known for its mayonnaise, peanut butter, and salad dressings.
Today, Calvé is managed as a global brand within a giant consumer goods portfolio. While it maintains a strong production presence in the Netherlands (notably in Delft during its early years and later moved to other sites), manufacturing now occurs in various locations across Europe and South America to serve regional markets. The brand has remained under the same ultimate corporate umbrella for nearly a century following the merger that created one of the world's largest consumer goods companies.
