Ayam Brand is one of the oldest consumer brands in Asia, founded in 1892 by Frenchman Alfred Clouet in Singapore. Originally established as a trading company for sardines and mushrooms, the brand became iconic for its rooster logo ('Ayam' means chicken/rooster in Malay). Today, it is a household staple across Southeast Asia, Australia, and parts of Europe, known primarily for its canned seafood and coconut products.
While the brand originated in Singapore during the colonial era, its manufacturing operations have expanded significantly. Most of its coconut-based products are processed in modern facilities in Malaysia, which is also a hub for its global exports. The brand places a heavy emphasis on sustainability and natural ingredients, marketing this particular coconut milk as 100% natural without added emulsifiers or preservatives.
The brand is currently owned by the Denis Group (specifically through the subsidiary A. Clouet & Co.). The Denis Group is a family-owned multinational firm with deep roots in the Asian market but headquartered in Switzerland. This unique ownership structure combines French heritage, Swiss corporate management, and Southeast Asian market expertise and production.
